Skills

Customer support: phone and email enquiries, complaint clarification, case notes and follow-up. Administration: order lookup, return records, spreadsheet filters and shared inboxes. Teamwork: shift handovers, escalation and updating internal guidance.

Relevant training

Show how you handle a customer’s problem

Words such as “patient,” “friendly” and “reliable” may be true, but they do not show what happens during a difficult conversation. The delivery bullet gives a sequence: investigate, explain and follow up. That sequence helps a hiring manager understand Sam’s working habits.

Use a real situation to find the detail behind a broad duty. “Answered calls” might become “Clarified order questions by phone, checked the order record and explained the next action in plain language.” If the role includes complaints, show when you resolve a request and when you seek approval. Do not imply authority you did not have.

Numbers can add context when you have reliable records. You might know the typical range of cases you handled, the size of a team you supported or how often you prepared a report. Avoid guessing satisfaction scores, resolution rates or sales increases. A well-described task remains useful without an invented metric.

Tailor it to the service role

Read the vacancy for the channels, tasks and tools the employer actually uses. A phone-based role may need more evidence of listening and clear explanations. An email role may benefit from examples of accurate written responses. A retail role may place more emphasis on face-to-face help and store procedures.

  • Name support software only if you have used it, and connect it to a task such as tracking cases or checking order history.
  • Label internal training as internal training. Do not present it as an external qualification or certification.
  • If you are moving from hospitality or retail, use examples of explaining options, managing queues, handling a mistake or passing on an unresolved request.
  • Keep customer names, account details and private case information out of the CV.
  • Check that employment dates and job titles match the rest of your application.
